My Little Girl

I just finished reading “My Little Girl”, by Time Mcgraw and Tom Douglas. Starting with the cover, the book is just super girly and cute. Any girl will love to sit down and read this book with her daddy. The illustrations are beautiful, whimsy and very colorful. They definitely catch your eye as you turn the pages. Julia Denos did an amazing job of illustrating the story. What I love about the book is the simplicity of it. Now-a-days many families and dad’s think they have to do so many extravagant things just to spend time with their children. When really all their children want is them. This book helps show parents and dad’s especially that they can have a fun filled, memory-making day with their little ones just by going outside and spending time with them. It does not have to be anything fancy! Another part I love about the book is the last page where they give you space to write your own “love you more” story or words for your daddy, child or loved one. It’s a very special keepsake that all little girls and their daddies will love reading together! Overall, I recommend this book to any family with little girls!

The Moon Shines Down

After reading “The Moon Shines Down” by Margaret Wise Brown, I have to say I am very happy they found this lost manuscript 56 years after her death! It took me back to my childhood when I use to sit on my parents lap and have them read to me and being in the library sitting down and watching the librarian or helper read to you. I look forward to sitting down with my niece and nephews and reading them this book before they head off to their sleepy dreams. There were many things I loved about this book. I loved how it was hard back, so it will last longer. I loved the extremely bright colored pages. They popped out at you with such vivid backgrounds and characters. The work of Linda Bleck is amazing. I love the way she drew out exactly what the words were describing so that little kids can visualize it more. The little koala that tags along throughout the book is adorable and a great main character! I love how it goes throughout the whole world and teaches the children reading the book about different cultures and different countries. The pages then show the children reading the book how those children from the other countries and cultures looked and what they liked to do! I cannot imagine any child not loving this book! It’s a must-have children’s book that I agree will be become a classic! I look forward to sharing it with my children someday!

April's first book review...

WOW! I have just had the privilege of reading, “Reflections of God’s holy land” by Eva Marie Everson and Miriam Feinberg Vamosh. I have dreamt of going to Israel all my life, from as young as I can remember. Israel, the land where my favorite bible passages and people came from, has sparked a deep interest inside of me. I remember always looking at the back of my bible at the maps of Israel the way it looked back when Jesus was there. It always fascinated me to learn about Israel. As I learned of different events, situations, different men and women of God, that lived and grew up there, I became even more intrigued by this beautiful land. I may never get to go there in this day and age, but I feel like I have had the privilege of getting as close to it as possible by reading “Reflections on God’s holy land”. I highly recommend this to anyone that loves history, God’s word or just loves to read. It’s a GREAT coffee table book! The pictures are breathtaking and capture exactly what the author says. Between the words written and the pictures presented in this book, its easy to imagine yourself there in Israel, exploring all the places that Jesus walked and healed, where Moses led and where women drew water from the well. I am thankful for the chance to read this amazing book. If I never get to go to Israel, I am a little more ok with it now that I have read this book because well, I feel like I have been there now!
